That glorious time of year is approaching again: camping season. Mother Nature rears her head, and you desire to set out and meet her. But first, you must prepare your RV for camping season by having routine maintenance performed and getting everything you need to hit the road. Here’s a simple RV preparation guide from us at Hanner RV Supercenter to help you get everything in order.
The bulk of preparing your RV for the spring and summer involves checking all the RVs major systems. You will want to check various mechanical parts: the batteries, appliances, and tires. You will want to make sure the RV batteries have a full charge and that your tires are in good shape, with appropriate treads and pressure. Additionally, you will want to check the engine and generator fluids, and refill if necessary.
The water system is another critical part of the RV. You will want to flush the RVs water system and fill it back up with potable water. When doing so, you should check and make sure there are no leaks in the water system. You should perform a thorough check, looking in places such as around the toilet, in subfloor compartments, and near sinks. It’s also a good idea to sanitize the water system by running a bit of bleach through the water lines, then flushing them back out with water.
Lastly, make sure that you have all the appropriate safety equipment, such as a working smoke detector and fire extinguisher.
Ultimately, preparing your RV for camping season is about maximizing your safety and confidence while on the road. We don’t want any pesky issues to arise while you are out exploring the great outdoors, so we hope this short guide helps! We are also happy to help with any RV service or maintenance at Hanner RV Supercenter.
