Road Trip Through West Texas In Your RV

Where Should You Go?

If you have just purchased a new fifth wheel, travel trailer, or camper at Hanner RV near Abilene, TX, consider taking it out for a family road trip. Where should you go? In our opinion, a road trip through West Texas in your RV is the perfect way to spend a week.

Take Your Time Getting There

The highlight of the trip is Big Bend National Park, but CNN Travel recommends taking your time getting there. Either start in the east in Austin or San Antonio and head west toward El Paso, or vice-versa. Either way, you’ll find yourself driving along Interstate 10, taking in beautiful sites of the mountains surrounding the Chihuahuan Desert, the flowing Rio Grande, and the massive Texas skies.

Stop For A While In Each Area

Along the way, stop at towns like Alpine (check out the famous desk), Marfa (for the local art), and Fort Davis (the highest town in Texas). Eventually, take the River Road to Terlingua and Big Bend National Park — this drive is out of the way but is the most scenic drive in Texas. You’ll take in remarkable and breath-taking vistas that will make the whole trip worth it.

A Road Trip Through West Texas In Your RV

While the summers can get hot in western Texas and the winters icy and cold, the fall and spring are the perfect time for a road trip through West Texas in your RV.
